If you are new to KME, we understand how

overwhelming it can be to learn the way that the school operates.

We have put together some important information about the PTO,

how to contribute to KME, school events, and fundraiser information.

The Mission of the PTO

We are a non-profit, all-volunteer group committed to enriching our children’s educational experiences at KME and building a vibrant community within our school. We help parents and caregivers stay connected, understand our community’s needs, and foster community spirit; all of which is intended to maximize the experience of our students.  Every parent and guardian of a student enrolled at KME is a member of the PTO.

By supporting the PTO, you are supporting KME! You help contribute to fun school events and enrichment programs that not only raise funds, but more importantly engage the students, build moral, and school spirit.

How the PTO operates

The KME PTO is structured as a non-profit, which means that whatever money is raised within a given school year should be used before the school year ends. All students should also be able to benefit from how the funds are spent. In the past, the PTO has not only sponsored fun events like the school dance and extravaganza, but they have also paid for educational resources for teachers/staff, turf to make the playground safer, an outdoor classroom, and many other projects that help make KME the best place to be.

Veteran’s Day Parade

KME loves our veterans and active service members! During our celebration in November, students, teachers, and parents line the hallways to show our appreciation for their service to our country!  Veterans and family members are invited to school for a coffee and donut breakfast.  Once the children have arrived, the students who have invited family members to participate join them to walk in the parade.  Then we usually enjoy a short presentation and music from the students.

Programs organized/sponsored by the PTO

After-School Programs

We offer various after-school enrichment programs for our KME boys and girls throughout the year focusing on areas such as the Arts (drama, art, dance, music), Culture (language), Sports & Fitness (athletic training, martial arts, soccer, yoga), and STEM (science, technology, engineering, math). All classes are held at the school, directly following dismissal for the day, with an occasional evening class. Class schedules and fees are determined by each Program Provider. Parents are responsible for registering their child with the Program Provider and for covering all class fees.

In-School Enrichment Programs

We offer many in-school programs for KME students throughout the year.  Our VP of Programs works closely with the principal and teachers to make sure all programs are tied in with the curriculum.

Fundraisers (click on title for more information)

Legacy Tree

You can find our Legacy Tree on display in our front office. In May, you have the option to purchase a brass leaf to be engraved. Dedicate the leaf to a family member, personalize a note of recognition, or a “Thank You!” to a teacher. 100% of the proceeds directly benefit the education and enrichment programs that the PTO provides for the children at KME!

Cincinnati City Saver Coupon Book Fundraiser

This is an annual fundraiser for KME to raise funds to support our building wide literacy focus. All dollars raised from the purchase of City Saver books will be used to purchase books for our classrooms and media center, pay for visiting authors and illustrators and purchase books for grade level reads.  Each school year we research and purchase new books that build connections with our students, their community and the world we live in. We know that students who read will make a difference!

Spring Flower Sale

Add some beautiful color to your garden and support KME at the same time.  Keep an eye out for information on the spring flower sale!
